Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has strongly condemned the gruesome murder of an elderly couple, Mr. Jacob and Mrs. Comfort Udo, in Etiti Ulo, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State. He described the act as “barbaric, evil, and totally unacceptable,” urging security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.
The couple, both traders, were brutally murdered in their home by unknown assailants on Tuesday night, leaving their family and community in shock. Kalu, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Privatization and former Governor of Abia State, condoled with the families of the deceased, stating that no Abia North Constituent deserves such an inhumane and painful death.
He said ” I received with sadness and shock the news of the murder of Mr Jacob and Mrs Comfort Udo.
“I totally condemn the evil act and urge security agencies to use their capacities to expose the killers of the couple.
“I commiserate with the people of Bende over this ugly incident”.
The Abia State Police Command had earlier confirmed the incident and launched an investigation. According to ASP Maureen Chinaka, Police Public Relations Officer, “the crime scene has been visited, exhibits recovered, and the bodies deposited at the mortuary.”
The police are working to uncover the identities of the assailants and their motives. As the investigation unfolds, the community remains on edge, seeking answers and justice for the senseless murder of the Udo couple.
Sen. Kalu called on the people of Bende to remain calm and peaceful, while also cautioning perpetrators of criminal acts in the society. The community is still reeling from the shock of this brutal crime, and justice is demanded for the victims and their families.
