The need for brotherly love and great bond of unity among family members for peaceful coexistence in our society has been re-emphasized by the immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, CON.
Similarly, constant prayers and support to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, will ensure the sustained steady progress in the State.
Speaking at a special one year anniversary thanksgiving service by the House Leader of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Elder Sunday Johnny, legislator representing Onna State Constituency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel decried unnecessary rifts and hatred within families which spill over to the larger society, and called on all to promote brotherly love and peace for a greater Nigeria.
While acknowledging the natural peaceful demeanour of Akwa Ibom people, Udom who was accompanied by his wife Martha, specially paid glowing tributes to Governor Umo Eno, who has continually shown exemplary leadership as evident in the thanksgiving hearts of his followers, and mentioned that he never fails to offer prayers daily for the successful leadership of Pst. Umo Eno.
“If you know the impact of what the leader has for all of us, you will know why you should appreciate our Governor.
“People think it is easy to be a Governor, but it is not an easy task and that is why I keep urging you to pray for the Governor.”
Mr. Udom Emmanuel appreciated the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Udeme Otong, and all legislators for encouraging a progressive state, hence, the harvest of development, peace and unity in the State.
He thanked the state lawmakers for the support to the Governor and reaffirmed that he has not regretted the support to all the lawmakers in 2023.
“You people have not disappointed and I am so proud of you all. If I had the same privilege like before, I would still stand by all of you.”
He promised to rally some welfare schemes that will empower more youths and choristers in the church, but warned that the welfare programme should not lead to chaos.
In his Message with the theme, “The Perils of an Ungrateful Heart, and the Rewards of Gratitude”, the Host Pastor, Rev. Titus John Akpan, identified demotion, stagnation and poverty as consequences of ingratitude, and explained the three P’s of gratitude to include promotion, protection and provision, noting that appreciation is an application for more.
The only Bible Reading of the Thanksgiving Service, drawn from Luke 17: 17-19, was taken by the celebrant, Elder Sunday Udofot Johnny, who alongside his family specially expressed gratitude to God for his benevolence, and to the immediate past Governor for his fatherly disposition.
The Speaker of the Eighth Assembly, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong, led other House members to the occasion which also had Senator Ekong Sampson and Obong Paul Ekpo from the National Assembly, the Transition Committee Chairman of Onna Local Government, Elder Iniabasi Ekanem, the clergy, the political class, traditional rulers and a cross-section of Onna people, in attendance.
