…Governor’s aide preaches love among Akwa Ibomites
A couple in Ikot Nkan village, Onna local government area, have sent a truck load of prayers, gratitude and goodwill to Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State, envisaging that the State will see more improved fortunes throughout his stewardship.
Following the approval of a new residential building for Elder Sampson Udo and wife Regina, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Research and Documentation, Dr. Essien Ndueso, visited the couple in the company of the State documentary team.
The couple had earlier donated their land for a similar project by the Governor for their neighbour, and were full of ecstasy and appreciation to the Governor for his kindness to them.
Elder Udo, an Elder of the Apostolic Church, said he was very happy that his Governor is paying attention to the plight of less privileged in the society.
“When the Governor sent people to come and build a house for our sister who had lost her husband years ago, we felt the need to donate land for her. We didn’t want her to miss the chance that God offered her because she had really suffered.
“I am happy that God has also visited me and my family and I thank the Governor for extending his love to us”, Elder Sampson Udo said.
Conveying the message of the Governor, Dr Essien Ndueso told the family that the Governor was touched by their generosity, hence his decision to also get them a house.
“In several places, development plans by the Government are usually truncated by the hostile posture of the beneficiaries who often make outrageous demands and frustrate the government.
“You could have easily frustrated the attempt to get your neighbour a house by denying her the land, especially since you equally don’t have a house, but you were considerate and that love is what has opened doors for you.
“The Governor has already instructed his Special Assistant on Humanitarian Affairs, Elder Nsikak Umoekpo and he will be here very soon to commence work on your new house.”
The Governor’s aide further urged people to emulate the ARISE spirit of the couple in their daily dealings, assuring that the Governor is setting a template for Akwa Ibom people to learn to tolerate and love each other for development to thrive.
Also speaking, the previous compassionate home beneficiary, Madam Stella George said she had been worried about the fate of her kinsman and his wife, as the condition of their house was very deplorable.
“Considering that they are old and weak, it was always going to be an uphill task for them to contain the rains in their deplorable house; but I thank God that He has answered their prayers”, she said.
