Indelible Legacy: X-raying OUK'S Legacy In Abia State Health Sector

Sen. Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu’s records remain very outstanding and golden, despite meagre allocations during his time as Governor, ranging from medical interventions Et Al.

The establishment of fifteen (15) General Hospitals in all spheres of the State and one Teaching Hospital in Aba are testaments to Sen. Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu’s footprints of administrative excellence and commitment to the health sector during his time as Abia Governor.

It is imperative to equally mention that during his time as Governor, Abians regardless of social status, enjoyed outright free Medical Services. This Free Medical services, superintended by Dr. Ojum Ogwo at the time, was carried out in the 17 local governments and 184 wards for 8 years, With a Team of Doctors and Nurses visiting each ward twice a year, that’s sixteen (16) times in 8 years. This is indeed, a development that can be best described as “Mouthwatering”. It is regrettable to state that these efforts were bastardized by successive governments.

Sen Kalu’s unparalleled passion for Nation Building coupled with his unrivaled commitment for community development in Abia North Senatorial District, Remains one factor that Conspicuously distinguishes him from others and has endeared him to many.

As a Governor, it is an Irrefutable Truism that he paid outright Attention to Security, Economic Development, Infrastructure, Education, Sports and Welfare.

In line with his Achievement in the Educational Sector, Abians, during Senator Kalu’s stint as Governor, enjoyed outright free education, thus, making it easier for all, regardless of social strata, to enjoy what is most essential in our Contemporary society.

In addition to his gargantuan achievement as Governor, includes, the security of lives and property, wherein, he approved the establishment of a local Vigilante Group known as Bakassi Boys, which partnered with the police and curbed crimes within the state, and crime became history in Abia Even as the Vigilante Group enjoyed massive welfare from the Government at the time.

In Sports and Infrastructure, Senator Kalu’s footprints of leadership excellence has Continued to reverberate, as his prioritization of Infrastructure which earned him the Title (Action Governor), at the time, is never alien to Abians.

The history of Enyimba International Football Club, cannot be discussed in isolation of the administrative brilliance of a political heavyweight such as Senator Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, as his political superintendence as Abia Governor, propelled Enyimba Football Club to unimaginable glory of back to back CAF Champions league Victory. In fact that glorious Era unraveled many talents such as Vincent Enyeama, Obinna Nwaneri and a couple of others, who later became part of the National Team players and subsequently played in Europe.

As if that wasn’t enough, Sen Kalu has Continued to demonstrate same leadership prowess as a Senator Of The Federal Republic. The construction of over 165 Roads Across the five LGA’s that constitute Abia North and beyond, Meaningful Empowerments, Human Capital Development, Renovation and construction of new school blocks, Sponsorship of several Bills of National Importance, Scholarships and many more, are testaments to these facts.

Suffice it to say that Senator Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu is more Committed to serving Humanity And not Unnecessary Frivolities.
