Peter Obi Visits Nabeeha's family, Condoles With Folashade Ariyo

Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, on Tuesday paid a condolence visit to Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar’s family.

On January 2, bandits abducted Mansur Al-Kadriyar, alongside his six daughters, when they attacked their residence in Zuma 1, Bwari area of Abuja.

The bandits later released the father of the girls purportedly for ransom purposes.

After some two weeks in captivity, the bandits killed Nabeeha, one of the girls, over the inability of the family to pay the ransom.

The abductors reportedly increased the ransom to N100 million and threatened to kill more girls if the money was not paid.

On January 21, the remaining five girls regained their freedom after spending 18 days in captivity.

Obi, in a post on his official X page, shared photos of his visit.

He said it is heartbreaking to witness the pain and suffering of different families due to the spate of banditry in Nigeria.

“Today, I witnessed yet another heartbreaking moment as I paid a condolence visit to the grieving family of Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, brutally murdered by her abductors in the nation’s capital, Abuja recently,” Obi said.

“At the same time, I remembered the family of the late Folashade Ariyo. Unfortunate challenges like these raging violence in our society bring out the strength and resilience that lies within us.

“It is heartbreaking to witness the pain and suffering of different families caused by the senseless acts of violence that have plagued our nation.

“However, amid this darkness, there is hope. Hope that together, as a nation, we can put an end to this horrifying and deadly insecurity. We must come together, united in our resolve to protect the lives and well-being of every Nigerian.

“To our citizenry, I implore us that we should not allow fear to paralyze us. Instead, let’s stand up against this ugly wave of insecurity.

“May we support one another, lend a helping hand to those in need, and work towards creating a safer and more secure future for all.

“May the memories of Nabeeha and all those who have lost their lives to such violent attacks inspire us, especially we the leaders, to take more decisive action against this ugly monster of insecurity.”
