Israeli forces, posing as civilian women and medics, launched a raid on Tuesday at Ibn Sina Hospital in the occupied West Bank.
This operation resulted in the deaths of three Palestinian militants, highlighting the spillage of deadly violence from the Gaza conflict into the West Bank.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected the possibility of a military withdrawal from Gaza or the release of numerous imprisoned militants, key demands from Hamas for a potential cease-fire.
This stance casts doubt on the ongoing efforts to bring an end to a war that has had far-reaching destabilizing effects in the broader Middle East.
According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, Israeli forces fired inside the hospital in Jenin, with a hospital spokesperson stating that there was no exchange of fire, suggesting a targeted killing.
Israel’s military claimed that the militants were using the hospital as a hideout, alleging that one of them had facilitated the transfer of weapons and ammunition for a planned attack, inspired by Hamas’ Oct. 7 assault on southern Israel, which triggered the Gaza conflict.
Security camera footage from the hospital reveals around a dozen undercover forces, mostly armed, disguised in Muslim headscarves, hospital scrubs, or white doctor’s coats. One of them carried a rifle in one arm and a folded wheelchair in the other.
