On Monday, tragedy struck outside the premises of Access Bank at Jankada Junction in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State, when an unidentified bank customer collapsed and passed away.
According to a witness, the unfortunate incident occurred around 11 a.m. shortly after the man exited the bank hall. It was revealed that a transaction receipt, along with N50,000 in cash, was discovered on his person.
A staff member from the bank, who attended to the deceased, confirmed that the individual had hastily withdrawn the money, citing illness as the reason and expressing an urgent need to seek medical treatment.
Usman Abdullahi, the Police Public Relations Officer for the state, verified the incident. Upon receiving the information, the police promptly dispatched officers to the scene to facilitate the removal of the deceased.
Abdullahi, addressing the situation, stated, “I personally sent policemen to go to the scene when we got the information, but for now, I can’t ascertain the present situation because I have been busy with the recruitment exercise.”
