Austin Okai, the People’s Democratic Party House of Representatives candidate for Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency in the 2023 elections, asserted on Monday that the newly-inaugurated Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, has purportedly sanctioned the creation of the “Office of Immediate-Past Governor” within the state.
Making this claim through a post on his verified social media account, Okai alleged that this office, intended for the immediate-past governor, Yahaya Bello, would be situated at the state Government House.
In his social media post on Monday, Okai stated, “Kogi State Governor approves the establishment of the ‘Office of Immediate Past Governor’ to be domiciled in the Government House. Kogi State, congratulations.”
Attempts to elicit a response from Ododo were unsuccessful, as calls to his media aide, John Nihi, went unanswered. Nihi also did not respond to messages sent via WhatsApp.
IgbereTV reported that Ododo was sworn in as the governor of the state on Saturday, succeeding Bello, who had just completed his second term in office.
