No Birthday Gift, Advert For Me, Gov Oyebanji Tells Friends, Associates

The Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has made an earnest request to friends, family, well-wishers, and the public regarding his upcoming 56th birthday on Thursday, December 21st.

Instead of organizing any elaborate celebrations, including parties, gifts, or newspaper advertisements, Governor Oyebanji kindly urged individuals to consider contributing cash or material donations to benefit the less privileged children in the State.

Governor Oyebanji specifically outlined that those willing to celebrate with him should direct their gifts and cash donations to the three Government Special Schools located in the state’s three senatorial districts—namely, the Government Special School for the Deaf in Ikoro-Ekiti, the Government Special School for the Blind in Ikere-Ekiti, and the Government Special School for the Mentally and Physically Challenged in Ido-Ekiti. Additionally, contributions are welcomed at the State Relief and Rehabilitation Centre for the Mentally Challenged in Ado-Ekiti.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yinka Oyebode, Governor Oyebanji emphasized that gifts and financial support directed to these schools would hold greater value for him, fostering a more meaningful and appreciated birthday celebration. He highlighted the current societal context, urging citizens to proactively reach out to the less privileged as part of their collective efforts in these challenging times.

The Governor said he was happy at the number of family members, friends and associates that presented gifts to the three special schools during his birthday last year, and the attendant joy the gestures brought to the faces of the students.

Governor Oyebanji said he became happier when he got reports on how each of the schools utilised the financial and material gifts they got from him and his friends to enhance the welfare and wellbeing of the students and to upgrade some facilities within the schools.

The Governor said he would be happy if his friends and well wishers would grant his wishes this year again, by joining him in putting smiles on the faces of the students with disabilities instead of any gift or party they might have in mind.

The Ikogosi-Ekiti born Oyebanji, a former University lecturer turned politician, will be 56 years old on December 21, 2023.

The statement lists the accounts details of the schools as follows:
