Bandits Kill Bus Driver, Kidnap 8 Passengers In Niger State, Demand ₦17M Ransom

Tragically, bandits operating on federal highways in Niger State claimed the life of a bus driver and abducted eight passengers in a recent attack.

The assailants, who later contacted the families of the captives, are reported to be demanding a N17 million ransom for their release.

The incident occurred last Saturday as the victims were en route to the coronation of the chairman of kingmakers and chief priest of Bakarabonde in Borgu Kingdom, according to local residents.

After executing their operation, the bandits set the bus ablaze. Sulaiman Yerima, Chairman of Borgu Local Government Area, confirmed the unfortunate incident and the ransom demand, expressing his dismay.

The Niger State Police Command’s spokesman, Wasiu Abiodun, acknowledged the event and mentioned that he was awaiting a detailed report from the Borgu Division. “I am still awaiting a detailed report of the incident. When I get it, I’ll contact you,” he stated.
