LCurrently, social media users are engaging in discussions surrounding the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) and the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) following the recent announcement of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two agencies on Sunday.
In images shared on social media by REA, Ahmad Salihjo, the CEO of REA, and Khalil Halilu, the CEO of NASENI, can be seen signing the MoU and posing with the documents.
Notably, this signing took place in the UAE during the ongoing Conference of Parties (COP28).
Among other objectives, the agencies outlined that the MoU aims to foster collaboration in electrifying rural and underserved areas in Nigeria.
Additionally, they plan to share knowledge, data, and information related to rural electrification while promoting the use of renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and biomass in these areas.
However, some Nigerians expressed criticism after the announcement, questioning why the agreement was not signed in Abuja, where both agencies’ headquarters are located.
