The Federal Government has assured Nigerians that the transformation of Nigeria will begin after the 27.5 trillion Nigerian budget submitted by President Bola Tinubu to the National Assembly is passed.
Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris said this at the 2023 Annual Open Lecture of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in Kaduna State.
Idris explained that the proposed budget represents a pivotal step toward the realization of President Tinubu’s new Agenda of Hope.
Idris said, “President Tinubu recognizes the importance of economic stability, and we are very optimistic that the 2024 budget proposal, if passed through the legislative process, will bring tangible improvements to the lives of Nigerians and usher in an era of transformation.”
Just this week, the Nigerian president presented to the National Assembly his administration’s first full-year budget, the 27.5 trillion Nigerian 2024 budget proposal. The presented budget represents a pivotal step toward realizing the renewed Hope Agenda by aligning fiscal strategies and priorities with broader national development goals.
“In addition to its focus on development priorities, the budget demonstrates a commitment to fiscal responsibility.”
The minister said that prior to the budget presentation, President Tinubu approved a supplementary budget, signed several landmark bills and executive orders, and launched a special presidential initiative on fiscal policy reform, compressed natural gas (CNG), food security, MSME support, and other key areas of the economy.
The goal, the minister said, “is to provide relief to the Nigerian people and lay the groundwork for real and lasting prosperity.”
