UMUAHIA – The Abia Patriots (TAP) have commended Governor Alex Otti for what they described as landmark achievements recorded in less than three years of his administration, saying the pace of development marks a clear departure from previous tenures.

In a statement issued on Sunday, May 25, 2026, and signed by its Secretary General, Mazi Adindu Madumere, the group said projects executed across the 17 local government areas demonstrated consistency, transparency, and a focus on infrastructure with direct economic impact.
According to TAP, roads abandoned for over a decade, including Port Harcourt Road in Aba, Arochukwu Road, Nunya Road in Isuikwuato, and Ubibia Road in Bende, have been flagged off and are at various stages of completion. The group added that more than 200 kilometres of rural and urban roads have been reconstructed or rehabilitated, improving market access and reducing travel time for farmers, traders, and commuters.
The statement also noted that the administration had embarked on the renovation and retrofitting of over 200 public primary and secondary schools, alongside the revitalization of primary healthcare centres and upgrading of general hospitals to improve grassroots service delivery.
“When compared to the record of previous administrations in Abia and to the pace of development in several other states, the achievements of the last 35 months stand out,” Madumere said.
He attributed the progress to disciplined fiscal management, prioritization of capital projects, and efforts to confront systemic waste, noting that the turnaround deserved recognition and sustained support.
TAP urged the government not to relent, stressing that challenges remain in improving the welfare of public servants, industrialization, job creation, water supply, and youth empowerment. “The momentum must be maintained until every community feels the impact of governance,” the statement read.
The group also called on other aspirants eyeing the governorship to drop their ambitions in the interest of continuity, stressing that reforms usually take time to mature and produce tangible visible dividends.
“In the same vein, The Abia Patriots advise other interested candidates eyeing the governorship to, in the spirit of the folly of changing a winning team, abandon their ambition and support Governor Otti for the benefit of Abians in general,” Madumere said.
He added that politics should not be driven by personal ambition at the expense of collective progress, and reaffirmed TAP’s commitment to supporting any administration that demonstrates genuine commitment to good governance and the welfare of the people.
