Edo Guber: LP’s Ticket Not For Highest Bidder — Omorodion Warns

Prince Egbe Humphrey Omorodion, a prominent contender for the position of governor in Edo State under the Labour Party banner, has issued a stern caution to individuals relying on delegate inducements to secure the party’s ticket, emphasizing that such tactics will lead to disappointment.

Emphasizing a principle-driven approach, he contends that the party’s ticket is not for sale to the highest bidder but rather for someone genuinely prepared, willing, and ready to serve the people of the state with integrity and commitment.

During a recent conversation with the media, Prince Omorodion highlighted the distinctiveness of the Labour Party, emphasizing its unique ideology governed by credible ideas rather than financial influence. He urged aspiring candidates for the upcoming 2024 governorship election to focus on presenting their solutions to the electorate.

In a critical assessment of some party aspirants, he criticized those who have a history of switching between political parties, asserting that such individuals lack the stability required to consistently pursue their ideas within a single political framework.

“A viral video indicates that one of them went to Labour Party headquarters in Edo and they threw sachet water at him. The truth is that he has moved party many times that people don’t even remember which political party he belongs.

“Labour Party is a different political party from the rest. What makes us different is that we are new, young and vibrant. We are not the old stock of politicians”, he noted.

While insisting that money politics had had its time, Prince Omorodion, a finance and medical professional urged the people of Edo to vote to liberate themselves from unemployment, poverty and insecurity.

“There will be surprises because in the primaries, the people are going to look for aspirants with real manifesto that is implementable.

“They will look for people who have experience, young people who can come out and actually work to improve the lives of the people”, he added.

Omorodion, a senior Obidient diasporan, philanthropist and the Chairman of Labour Party UK said he is on ground to serve his people.

“We the diasporans, it is our time to come and bring that change. We have experienced what good governance is all about and that is what will import into our country, so that our families and communities can enjoy it.”

While underlining that time has come to convert the brain drain to brain gain, the Edo Prince who has lived overseas in the past three decades said he has a network of high profile individuals and organizations that would be instrumental in transforming Edo into a global focus because of giants strides that will be recorded under him as governor.

He expressed optimism that the Edo state chapter of the party will ensure a level playing field for all aspirants.
