A Prince of Arochukwu royal household in Abia State, Prince Kanu Okoro Kanu Oji has revealed how suspended traditional ruler of Ibom kindred in Arochukwu, Kanu Nwa Kanu is being fingered in the horrific attack and eventual death of of the President General of Ibom Welfare Union, over office squabbles.
According to Oji, Kanu Nwa Kanu, who is the Eze Ibom Isii had a fallout with the Ibom community for alleged henious activities, leading to a vote of no confidence on him. The community had suspended him, but the ruler threatened to deal with him.
According to him, shortly after these incidents, some unknown individual hired machete bearing thugs to go after the PG, and kill him.
Speaking in Arochukwu, the Prince said “Ibom Welfare Union came here and laid a complaint. But you know, one thing in Aro is that at times, people don’t like following the truth.
“The President General of Ibom Welfare Union, Mazi Kingsley Kanu Okereke came to the Palace last December to say they gave a vote of no confidence on him as their Eze Ogo. They alleged that he has sold all their lands at Barracks behind their back. They accused him of commiting so many atrocities, and using touts and thugs to eliminate those opposed to him.
“You saw what happened, the Governor suspended him, and he still uses all those miscreants to say that he is still the Eze Ibom Isii.
“At the moment, there is a case of murder on his head. The PG that led the Welfare Union to pass a vote of no confidence is dead now. Someone sent thugs to him and they beat him and used machetes to cut him all over the body, including his head.
“As I am talking to you, he is in the mortuary now. All fingers are pointing at the suspended traditional ruler that he has a hand in the attack, and we believe this is part of the reasons he was suspended by the Abia State Government and a panel set up to investigate his overbearing nature against his people. The PG anwuola, Eze Ibom Isii is the main suspect”, he stated.
