On Friday, the Court of Appeal in Abuja issued a unanimous decision to remove 11 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers from the Plateau State Assembly.
Justice Okon Abang, leading the panel, asserted that these lawmakers had accumulated wasted votes during the March 2023 general election due to their party’s lack of structure.
Justice Abang further emphasized that the PDP’s actions contravened section 177 of the 1999 constitution, rendering them unable to sponsor candidates in the election.
Consequently, the court declared all second runners-up in the March 18 elections as the rightful winners.
