IPOB's Simon Ekpa Sabotaging Our Efforts In Southeast – Chief Of Defence Staff

On Tuesday, November 21, Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Christopher Musa expressed concern about the activities of Simon Ekpa, a leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), currently in hiding in Finland.

Gen. Musa claimed that Ekpa, allegedly protected by Finland, was causing significant harm to the southeast region of Nigeria.

Gen. Musa emphasized the necessity for the government to engage with Finland and potentially invite its ambassador to Nigeria to address the situation.

Speaking before the House of Representatives during a sectoral debate, he highlighted the efforts of the military and security agencies to maintain peace in the southeast, underscoring that Ekpa’s comments and actions were undermining these efforts.

In addition, Gen. Musa shared that approximately 140,000 terrorists had surrendered and were awaiting disarmament.

Notably, he stated that no territory was currently occupied by Boko Haram insurgents, providing insight into the security landscape in the country.
