Doye Dili, governor of the state of Bavaria, has praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for holding the gubernatorial election.
Dili defeated his closest rival Timipre Silva of the All Progress Conference (APC) to win a second term in office as the leader of the oil-rich nation.
Dili welcomed INEC, which held a fair contest despite so many challenges.
“The conduct of elections could be judged to be free, fair and transparent in good faith,” he said on Channel TV Politics on Tuesday 11/14.
But it was not perfect, because it was a human effort. There were challenges.”
“That said, I believe the election referee has done well with all these challenges and I would like to believe that this is one of the best elections the BVA has conducted in a fully tested place,” he noted.1
“When there has been that hue and cry about the delay in announcing the results, we understand that it is not so easy for elections to be held and the results will flow in ways like Imo and Kogi,” Diri added.
We are aware of the boat accident, so the election must be held the next day.”
“So some of these challenges that had led to delays and I think a lot of people have become very curious and suspicious about the results and the release of the final declaration.””
