The Federal High Court in Lagos has granted damages of N50 million to Orits Wiliki for loss of revenue.
Mr. Wiliki filed a lawsuit against Premier Records concerning the use and sales of the albums “Tribulation,” “Conqueror,” and “Wha’ Dis Wha’ Dat.”
Additionally, the court ruled that the recording contract between Mr. Wiliki and Premier Records expired 25 years after the album’s release. It further found the recording contract relied upon by Premier Records to be inconsistent.
Consequently, the court issued a perpetual injunction against Premier Records, prohibiting them from any further use or sale of the albums “Tribulation,” “Conqueror,” and “Wha’ Dis Wha’ Dat.”
