Nigerian artist Lola Mewu has achieved an extraordinary feat by completing an astonishing 82 hours of non-stop painting, setting a remarkable new Guinness World Record for the longest painting marathon.
Mewu reached this remarkable milestone at precisely 4:30 am on Wednesday, November 1st, marking a momentous achievement in the world of art and endurance.
“She could not have done this alone, big thank you to everyone who assisted, supported, sponsored and encouraged her through this tough journey of exceeding limits,” a post on her Instagram page reads.
Mewu began painting in the Victoria Island area of Lagos on Saturday, October 28 with a target of 72 hours.
Many of Mewu’s paintings feature throwbacks from childhood, like playing in class, family interactions, visiting call centres in the early days of the GSM, parties, looking out the window, and lots more.
