Tinubu Seeks Senate Approval Of $7.8bn, $100m 2022-2024 Borrowing Plan

President Bola Tinubu has submitted a request to the Senate, seeking their approval for specific financial allocations in the proposed 2022-2024 borrowing plan.

In this proposal, President Tinubu is seeking approval for funds amounting to $7.8 billion and €100 million.

This request was formally presented to the Senate during a session presided over by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

The details of President Tinubu’s request were made public during this session, demonstrating his commitment to transparency and accountability.

Furthermore, the President shared that the World Bank Group has shown interest in providing financial support to the tune of $1 billion and $2 billion.

These funds are intended to address and alleviate economic challenges and recent reforms in the country. This demonstrates an opportunity for additional support in response to pressing economic issues.

The President asked the Senate to give the request a speedy consideration.

Akpabio referred the proposal to the committee of the foreign desk, finance, and national planning for further deliberation.
