Joe Ajaero To Undergo Ophthalmic Investigation, Brain Scan

The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero, was brutally assaulted during a rally protest in Owerri, the capital of Imo State.

As a result of the injuries sustained during this violent incident, he has been recommended for an ophthalmic investigation and a brain scan.

The NLC’s national leadership had organized the protest rally in Owerri to address concerns about the state government’s perceived indifference to the challenges faced by workers in the state.

Just as the rally was about to commence at the state NLC council, Comrade Joe Ajaero, and other union leaders, were targeted by suspected hired thugs who had cordoned off the area early in the morning. These thugs violently attacked him, tearing his clothes and causing bodily harm.

Following the assault, the police, accompanied by heavily armed unidentified individuals, detained him at a police facility.

The leadership of the NLC has accused the state government of being behind the attack which it claimed was supervised by the state Commissioner of Police.

An update on the attack of Comrade Ajaero from the NLC media unit indicated that he has been placed on a neck collar.

Benson Upah, head of information unit last night said: “Congress President, Joe Ajaero has been referred for ophthalmic investigation, a head/brain scan, a full body scan, and cervical spine therapy among other investigations.

“He is presently on a neck collar with wheals all over his skin.”
