A tragic incident unfolded on a fateful Monday morning in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State. An enormous tree fell, resulting in the loss of one woman’s life and causing injuries to ten others.
The unfortunate victims, including the deceased, were gathered alongside the roadside adjacent to Baystar petrol station, situated in the Zango-Kulende district.
This area is located opposite the junction of Oke-Andi, Ilorin. They had gathered there, waiting to catch commercial vehicles to their respective destinations when the incident took place.
The event transpired around 8 a.m., casting a cloud of chaos and bewilderment over the vicinity. Tragically, the woman lost her life instantly, marking a somber turn of events.
Igbere TV reports that the tree cut electricity cables and destroyed shops.
Some shop owners in the area and a vulganizer known as Malam Abdulrasheed, escaped death as they were yet to open for business at the time of the incident.
The injured victims were rushed to a private hospital, Olutayo Clinic, behind the Baystar petrol station.
Some of them were treated and discharged, but those in critical conditions were referred to the Government General Hospital and the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Oke-Oyi.
Saw millers were engaged to clear the fallen tree and the other.
