Celebrity gambler Benjamin Nnanyereugo, widely known as Killaboi, and who had previously confessed on Instagram to the tragic death of his girlfriend, Augusta Osedion, is now in custody in Sierra Leone.
His arrest follows recent days during which he was declared a fugitive by law enforcement.
Killaboi, aged 26, had publicly acknowledged in July that he “mistakenly” stabbed his girlfriend in the midst of a heated argument.
In the aftermath, he fled out of fear and has since struggled with thoughts of self-harm.
Confirming his arrest, Lagos police spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin told newsmen on Saturday: “He was arrested by the Sierra Leonan Police Force and we are working on extraditing him to Nigeria.”
Killaboi, a self-acclaimed blockchain developer and crypto purveyor, has been at large since making the open confession.
On October 10, Hundeyin said all available options to bring him in had failed.
“Nnanyereugo is suspected to have murdered his girlfriend, 21-year-old Augusta Onuwabhagbe Osedion, on July 13, 2023 in his Oral Estate, Ajah home. Following the exhaustion of all available options to bring him in, he is declared wanted.
“The suspect is 26 years old, approximately 5’9 ft tall and hails from Abia State. He is dark in complexion and speaks English, Igbo and pidgin English fluently,” he said.
