Cordelia Okonye, the mother of Augusta, who was reportedly a victim of celebrity gambler Benjamin Nnanyereugo, known as Killaboi, recently took to social media to make a startling revelation.
She shared what she claimed to be Killaboi’s Sierra Leonean passport, which she alleges he obtained just 15 days after her daughter’s tragic stabbing.
According to the document, the passport bears the issuance date of July 28, 2023. Furthermore, it indicates a significant name change, with Killaboi adopting the identity of Princeton Samuel Kanu, listing Freetown as his place of birth.
“He got his passport 15 days after killing my daughter,” Okonye captioned her Instagram post on Saturday following announcement by the police that he had been arrested.
In another post, she said: “Ben on handcuffs @2am today. My family caught him and my son was there two weeks ago but he went into hiding because he was declared wanted.”
It was gathered that after Killaboi was declared wanted by the police in Lagos, the Sierra Leonean police got a tip-off after someone recognised the gambler.
Killaboi, 26, had said in July that he “mistakenly” stabbed his girlfriend after they got into an argument. He also said he ran away out of fear and has been suicidal since then.
Confirming his arrest, Lagos police spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin told newsmen on Saturday: “He was arrested by the Sierra Leonan Police Force and we are working on extraditing him to Nigeria.”
