My Leg Might Be Amputated, Mr Ibu Says As He Solicits Financial Support

Renowned actor, John Okafor, widely recognized as Mr. Ibu, recently disclosed his ongoing battle with a serious illness that has raised concerns about the potential amputation of his leg.

The 63-year-old actor marked his recent birthday while confined to an undisclosed Lagos hospital.

He chose to share this distressing news through an Instagram video posted on a subsequent Wednesday.

While the exact nature of his ailment remains undisclosed, Mr. Ibu expressed his strong aversion to the possibility of leg amputation.

“I have been down for so many weeks, all I’m hoping for is your prayers and assistance. I’ve been in the hospital, as I speak to you, I’m still lying down in the hospital. The medical director says in case his new idea didn’t work, the best idea is to cut off my leg, just see me, if they cut off my leg where will I go to? Please be on prayers for me, talk to God Almighty, I don’t want my leg to be cut off. God bless you,” he said.

Mr Ibu’s adopted daughter Jazmine Okafor also reposted the video on her Instagram account, begging for financial assistance.

“I have never had to asked any help online in my life! Please this one time, am calling on everyone to come support daddy @realmribu, the best way we can financially, in prayers, in faith and believe! Every way possible! Thank you,” she wrote.

The actor who has been in and out of the hospital since last year, was admitted two week ago.

In May 2022, Mr Ibu was readmitted to the hospital on his 25th wedding anniversary a year after celebrating his 24th wedding anniversary.

His wife, Stella Okafor disclosed this in a now-deleted video she posted on Instagram.

She said: “Hello my beautiful people, by this time last year 25th May my wedding anniversary my husband was admitted in the hospital today again 25th May he is in the hospital but I give God all the glory happy wedding anniversary to us @realmribu1 I can’t kill myself it’s well.”

Stella, also known as Iburess, first called for prayers for her husband after she announced that he was admitted to a hospital in Abuja on March 24, 2022.

“Please my people pray for my husband @realmribu , his currently in the hospital now but God is the greatest in everything, He no longer has access to @realmribu , the account was hacked, you can reach him on realmribu1 on TikTok,” she wrote on Instagram.

The Sheri Koko actor was discharged from the hospital a few months ago after revealing he suffered food poisoning.
