Suspected thieves targeted the palace of Oba James Sodiya, the late Olu of Ogunmakin town in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The suspects reportedly absconded with the monarch’s crown and staff of office. This daring act occurred on Thursday, approximately two months after the monarch’s passing.
The police spokesperson for Ogun State, Omolola Odutola, has officially confirmed the incident to the press in Abeokuta on a Saturday. Odutola also disclosed that three suspects have been apprehended in connection with this audacious theft.
Labeling the act as an abomination, Odutola further revealed that the police have successfully recovered the stolen crown. Nevertheless, they are still actively searching for the staff of office.
