I Didn't Receive Any Invitation From Police — Mohbad's Friend, Primeboy

Singer Ibrahim Owodunni, who goes by the stage name Primeboy, has asserted that the police did not extend an invitation for questioning regarding Mohbad’s death before labeling him as a wanted individual.

He made this statement during an interview with TVC News on Thursday, shortly before voluntarily surrendering himself.

On Wednesday, the police officially declared Primeboy as a wanted person, alleging that he had failed to respond to their initial invitation. They also offered a reward of N1 million to anyone providing information leading to his apprehension.

However, during his visit to the police accompanied by his legal counsel, the singer explained that he had initially intended to approach the authorities but had been advised to await a formal invitation.

“That’s a big lie. How will I receive a message from the police and I will refuse them? Before all this ‘wanted’ issue, I wanted to go and explain myself at the station because people started accusing me wrongly. People that I called said I should chill, I should not go anywhere, I should wait for them to invite me,” he said.

Primeboy also explained his relationship with the late 27-year-old, saying that they were childhood friends.

“Mohbad is my childhood friend, he is my friend. All those times of ‘stepmother no care’, I was his stepmother then, I was his dad, I was his friend, I was everything to him because he lived with me then. My mum fed two of us together,” he said.

Explained how he felt losing Mohbad, he said, “They don’t even know how I feel losing him and now they are now accusing me. So, the feeling is crazy. I just know God sees it all.”

He also said he wants justice for Mohbad and claimed that Mohbad’s partner accused him of being responsible for his death.

“I want justice for Mohbad and I want that his wife, why would his wife go online and start framing me? That is wrong,” he said.
