Ministerial nominee Abbas Balarabe faced a distressing incident on Wednesday during his Senate screening.
Mr. Balarabe, the nominee from Kaduna State, had been actively engaged in his screening, addressing the panel for several minutes. However, as he was about to field questions from lawmakers, an unexpected and alarming event unfolded.
In a startling turn of events, Mr. Balarabe suddenly collapsed during the proceedings, prompting swift action from concerned legislators who rushed to his aid. This incident occurred during the screening of the second nominee of the day.
The former Kaduna governor was rejected over security concerns.
Others who were rejected were the former managing director of Nexim Bank Stella Okotete (from Delta State) and Abubakar Danlandi (from Taraba State).
A total of 45 persons out of 48 were confirmed for ministerial positions.
Balarabe’s name was conveyed in a letter read by Akpabio at the plenary on Tuesday.
Others whose names were included were Jamila Ibrahim and Ayodele Olawande as minister of youths and minister of state for youths respectively.
