The Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Paul Enenche, along with his wife, Becky, paid a visit to the site of the collapsed church building in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State.
This unfortunate incident occurred in the vicinity of Mission Ward, North Bank. During their visit, they extended their prayers to the congregation who had gathered to welcome them.
The tragic event transpired around 2 a.m. on a Tuesday while five pastors were engaged in midnight prayers, resulting in the loss of one of the pastors.
Speaking to reporters following the prayer session, Pastor Enenche emphasized the commitment of the church to adhere to proper construction practices.
He attributed the sparing of more lives to what he considered a miraculous intervention, given that the church had been filled to capacity for seven hours of prayer and worship just the Sunday before, yet the collapse occurred when only five individuals were present.
“As a ministry, we employ due diligence in our buildings and this we have done in several things.
“We believe that going forward, we will look into more details, the procedures and everything including technical details, and we trust God this will be forestalled in the future,” he said.
Enenche described the late pastor as a dedicated servant of God who served God all his life, adding that he would be missed by not only his immediate family, the church, but the entire state.
He said that God had the answers for everything and that with time he would reveal the reason for the collapse.
Enenche prayed God to grant the bereaved family, the branch and the entire Dunamis International Gospel Church the fortitude to bear the loss.
