4 Feared Killed As Police, Driver Drag Steering Wheel in Lagos

Four individuals have tragically lost their lives on Ago Palace Way in Lagos due to a confrontation involving a purported traffic violator and a police officer.

This distressing incident unfolded during the early hours of Tuesday, causing profound shock and distress throughout the community.

Eyewitnesses on the scene revealed that the vehicle at the center of the dispute, where both the driver and a police officer were vying for control of the steering wheel, tragically collided with a woman, her two children, and a tricycle driver.

“A traffic offender and police were tussling the car. Car goes out of control, flattens a Keke with a woman and her two kids; all dead including Keke rider.

“Policeman almost lynched, more police officers and personnel of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) arrived at the scene to salvage the situation, shooting in the air and all,” an eyewitness was quoted as telling TheCable.

The source further said the police fired teargas to disperse a mob that was formed over the incident.

Spokesman of Lagos Police Command Benjamin Hundeyin did not immediately respond to requests for comments, the online newspaper noted.
