The coroner’s inquiry into the passing of singer Oladimeji Aloba, known as Mohbad, commenced on Friday at the Magistrate court in Ikorodu, Lagos.
The coroner scheduled October 13, 2023, for the appearance of witnesses.
Funmi Falana, acting as the legal representative for Mohbad’s family, convened closed-door proceedings with other lawyers to deliberate on the procedures for presenting evidence.
Speaking to journalists after the proceedings, Falana said, “What we did today was to decide how and when the procedures would help get justice. The date has been fixed and we will be bringing our witnesses.”
The lawyer assured family and fans of the late singer that Mohbad would get justice.
“We are representing the interest of justice, we should allow peace to reign but justice must be served. We are going to get to the cause of the death,” she added.
This comes barely 24 hours after the police arrested socialite, Balogun Eletu, aka Sam Larry over an ongoing investigation into the circumstances leading to Mohbad’s death.
Sam Larry and musician Naira Marley have been at the centre of public outrage over the singer’s death.
