'I'm Sorry' – Philip Shaibu Begs Obaseki for Forgiveness

The embattled Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, yielded to higher authority yesterday, extending a heartfelt plea to his superior, Governor Godwin Obaseki, to reconcile their political differences.

This appeal came to light shortly after Shaibu’s investiture ceremony hosted by the Catholic Men Organization Nigeria, Edo State, which took place at his residence in the GRA area of Benin City. In a candid conversation with journalists, Shaibu publicly requested Governor Obaseki’s forgiveness and urged the importance of moving forward together.

He also shared that, in line with the governor’s instructions, he has relocated to his new office. Nonetheless, he acknowledged that some final touches remain to be completed at his new office, situated at No. 7 Osadebey’s Avenue.

On Monday, Shaibu was locked out of his office on the instructions of Governor Obaseki, a development that further deepened the crisis between the governor and his deputy.

When asked if he has resumed in his new office, the embattled deputy said, “We have resumed but there is still a lot of work to be done there. There is no problem about it. The governor has asked us to go there. Like I have always tried to prove, I am a loyal servant and nothing has changed.

“I took a personal vow to support my governor and you can see my Catholic people are here. When I take a vow with God nothing can change it, and I wish that the relationship that we have and I pray in the next few days and weeks it will come back.
