On Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at around 7:30 pm, while the Operation Restore Peace Enugu team was on a routine patrol along the Udi-Ozalla Road, the incident took place
Igberetv received confirmation of the incident from a police source, who named the deceased officers as Inspector Abu Elamaje and Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Danjuma Joseph.
They reportedly tried to make it to the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) Ituku-Ozalla for treatment despite being rushed there.
Further information revealed that while Inspector Udeme Udomeng, who had been shot, was treated and released from the hospital’s mortuary, where their bodies had been left for post-mortem examination.
The police source added that efforts were being made to catch the evading suspects.
