Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has charged members of the Renewed Hope Projects Media Team to carry out their assignment with the highest standards of professionalism, objectivity, fairness, and accuracy.
Governor Otti gave the charge on Tuesday evening in Umuahia while receiving the media team, who are currently in the state for a tour to inspect various projects executed by President Bola Tinubu and the Abia State Government.
Represented by Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu, Governor Otti described the visit as a significant step towards promoting transparency, accountability, and public awareness of government projects and policies across the country.
“In carrying out this responsibility, I urge you to remain steadfast in the principles of professionalism, objectivity, fairness and accuracy,” Otti said.
“The nation requires journalists who can rise above such challenges, resist misinformation and contribute meaningfully to national development. We welcome scrutiny because we believe that genuine progress should be seen, assessed and reported objectively.”
The governor urged the media team to freely interact with the people of Abia, noting that various projects executed by the state government in different communities reflect the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government.
Responding on behalf of the Renewed Hope Projects Media Tour team, the leader and Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, assured that the team would inspect key federal and state projects objectively.
Onanuga also highlighted the importance of collaboration between the federal and state governments in driving national development.
The media tour is part of ongoing efforts to showcase development initiatives and strengthen synergy between different levels of government.
