“He also stated that tinted vehicles will not be allowed in the state, hence, residents using tinted vehicles are advised to peel it off.
The Delta State Police Command has banned tinted vehicles, vehicles with covered plate numbers, and unregistered vehicles from plying the roads in the state, Igbere TV learnt.
The Police says the measure is to combat all forms of insecurity in the state during the ember months, particularly the reported incidences of kidnapping.
The State Police Commissioner, CP Wale Abass, issued the directive in a statement on Monday.
Abass said that all vehicles that ply the road in the state must be duly registered with their plate numbers visible and that all unregistered vehicles and vehicles with covered plate numbers will be impounded.
He also stated that tinted vehicles will not be allowed in the state, hence, residents using tinted vehicles are advised to peel them off.
According to the police commissioner, the decision to ban tinted vehicles and unregistered vehicles is due to the activities of criminal elements who carry out their nefarious activities using such vehicles.
“The CP warns that all vehicles that ply the road in the state must be duly registered with their plate numbers visible, as all unregistered vehicles and vehicles with covered plate numbers will be impounded,” the statement reads.
Abass therefore charged all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Heads, and Tactical Commanders to double their efforts in the fight against criminals in the state.
He also appealed to members of the public to understand and bear with Command as the measures being implemented, which are in their ultimate interest, might cause slight discomfort to the residents, particularly road users.
