Fountain Of Life Church Names Actor Jimmy Odukoya As Successor Of Late Father

The Fountain of Life Church made a significant announcement on Sunday, appointing Jimmy Odukoya, the son of the late Pastor Taiwo and Bimbo Odukoya, as the new senior pastor.

This announcement was made during a church service, marking a pivotal moment in the church’s leadership.

Pastor Rotimi Okpaise, a respected figure within the church, revealed that Pastor Taiwo Odukoya had previously shared his succession plan with the board of trustees (BoT) before his passing.

With unanimous support from the BoT, Jimmy Odukoya was duly elected as the senior pastor and also assumed the role of chairperson of the board, solidifying his position within the church’s leadership.

“The board has chosen Saturday, September 30, 2023, as the date of Jimmy’s installation,” he said.

Church members applauded after the announcement.

Odukoya, who was the former senior pastor of the church, died in August 2023 in the United States. He was aged 67.

The preacher, whose church headquarters is in the Ilupeju area of Lagos, was buried on September 9, in a private ceremony attended by family members and close associates.

Odukoya died less than two years after his 47-year-old South African wife, Nomthi Odukoya, died. She died in November 2021 after a two-year battle with cancer.

They were married for 11 years and had two children.

Odukoya married Nomthi after his first wife, Bimbo, died in the ill-fated Sosoliso plane crash in 2005.

His union with Bimbo produced three children, including Jimmy — the star of Netflix’s Woman King movie.

In December 2021, the pastor also lost his twin sister Kehinde Hassan to cancer.
