Katsina: Police refute claims of palliative diversion in viral video

The Katsina State Police Command has called on Nigerians to disregard a viral social media video alleging that its officers diverted palliative.

In an official statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, the police clarified that the video is misleading and intended to tarnish their reputation.

According to ASP Sadiq, following a thorough investigation, it was determined that the bags of rice in the video inside a police vehicle had been intercepted and recovered from unscrupulous individuals. These individuals had fraudulently obtained an excessive portion of the palliatives, and the police promptly returned them to the distribution site.

He lamented that the video distorts the facts and undermines the commendable efforts of the officers who were deployed to ensure the smooth and secure distribution of palliatives at the event.

The Command acknowledged the concerns raised by the public in response to the video and encouraged everyone to exercise caution and critical thinking when consuming online content.

The police department emphasized the importance of uniting against misinformation and working together to build a stronger and more understanding society, reiterating its commitment to serving the state’s residents with honesty and integrity
