Senate Speaks on Alleged Plot to Impeach Akpabio

Eseme Eyiboh, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, emphatically denied any plans to alter the current leadership of the Senate.

In an official statement released on a Saturday, Mr. Eyiboh dismissed reports hinting at an impending change in Senate leadership as entirely unfounded.

He asserted that the Senate remains unwavering in its focus and is not swayed by speculative rumors or what seems to be a coordinated media onslaught from external sources targeting the National Assembly.

“Senators are presently concluding their holidays in their constituencies and other places they have chosen to spend their time after the rigours of the inauguration and ministerial screening and other constructive engagements,” said Eyiboh.

“All senators are also refreshing themselves ahead of the resumption, therefore, any suggestions that they are presently engaged in other subversive plots against the institution is rather uncharitable.

“It is mostly uncharitable for those senators who initially did not support the emergence of the leadership but who have all unanimously endorsed the Akpabio-led leadership.

“Continuing to link these senators with needless conspiracy with barely disguised innuendo is rather unkind.”

Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Publicity, Yemi Adaramodu, also said there is no such plan underway as the Senate is a united family.
