Police Invited Sam Larry, Mohbad Failed to Show Up – FCID

The Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Zone 2, Alagbon, Lagos, has confirmed that Oladimeji Aloba, known as Mohbad, failed to appear and present evidence regarding the allegations he made against music promoter Samson Balogun, aka Sam Larry.

In a petition filed on June 27, 2023, Mohbad had accused Sam Larry and 15 others of armed intrusion into the location of a video shoot involving the late musician and another artist, Omoniyi Temidayo, also known as Zlatan Ibile. This intrusion was accompanied by threats of violence.

He added that they assaulted him and destroyed equipment worth over N5 million at the scene. He said he escaped with injuries.

The petition surfaced on social media after Mohbad’s death on Tuesday at the age of 27.

Speaking with reporters on Thursday night, spokesperson for the Lagos Annex of the FCID, Oluniyi Ogundeyi, said Sam Larry and others named in the petition were invited for questioning but Mohbad failed to show up at the police station to provide proof of the allegations and assist the police in prosecuting the suspects where necessary.

Ogundeyi said, “We received the petition, and followed up on the information provided in the petition, and the suspects were invited. But Mohbad refused to show up to defend his petition and also provide evidence to assist the police in carrying out a proper investigation and forward the matter to the legal department for prosecution, if necessary.”

The spokesperson further said a lawyer representing Sam Larry and the other suspects wrote a counter-petition against Mohbad, alleging defamation of character.
