Tears, Tight Security as Pastor Taiwo Odukoya’s Funeral Rites Begin

The commemoration of the late Taiwo Odukoya, the founding pastor of Fountain of Life Church in Ilupeju, Lagos, will commence on Friday, September 8th, with a heartfelt service of songs and an evening dedicated to sharing cherished memories and tributes.

Taiwo Odukoya passed away on August 7th while in the United States, leaving behind a legacy at the age of 67.

Both the service of songs and the night of tributes will take place at the church, where his impact and influence continue to resonate.

The church had earlier invited the public to join in “celebrating Pastor Odukoya’s life and legacy.”

Expected at the service of songs and night of tributes are the children, associates, friends, relatives and well-wishers of the late clergyman.

Speaking on the celebration of Odukoya’s legacy, former chairman of FirstBank of Nigeria Ltd Ibukun Awosika wrote on Instagram: “Today the 8th of September 2023, we start the celebration of the legacy of a TRULY GREAT SERVANT LEADER. Join us in our Night of Tributes from 5pm, in church or online no matter where you are around the world. God bless you.”

The boardroom guru is a member of the church.

Odukoya will be buried on Saturday, September 9.

On Sunday, a thanksgiving service will be held at the church to signal the end of the funeral.

Odukoya endured several tragedies while he was alive.

His death came about two months after he celebrated his late wife Nomthi on her posthumous birthday.

Nomthi died on November 9, 2021, following a two-year battle with cancer.

Odukoya’s twin sister Kehinde Hassan died in December 2021.

The cleric wedded Nomthi, a South African, in January 2010, five years after his first wife Pastor Bimbo Odukoya died on December 11, 2005 from injuries sustained in a plane crash.
