Events marking the Abia at 32 anniversary came to a climax at the Int’l Conference Center, Umuahia with a lecture on “ABIA: Hitting the RESET button” which was delivered virtually by Dr. Oby Ezekwesili.

Addressing the gathering the governor, Dr Alex Otti said that it’s a moment in the sun for Abians. He said,
“We have the wind in our sail and I can tell you that the optimism you see on the faces of our people everywhere is not for nothing. Abians are understandably excited and as many scholars had argued, societies are built by the faith and confidence of the people.”
He also added that Abia needs to remove the old garment and forge ahead.
“A new era is now upon us and we must put away the old garb of greed and selfishness, poor attitude to work, clannishness and instincts that promote mediocrity over meritocracy and excellence. Our challenge going forward shall be to determine how we can individually contribute to the building of our dream New Abia. ”
The Creme de la creme of Abia and South East gathered to celebrate Abia at 32.
They include the Guest Lecturer, Dr. Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili.
Former Honourable Minister for Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah. Entertainment Guru, Mr. Charles Oputa (Area Father and Chairman Association of Frustrated Abians), Pioneer Chairman of NDDC, Chief Onyema Ugochukwu, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, Undisputed African Wrestling Champion, Chief Osita Offor ( Ultimate Commander) and other very distinguished Abians and Nigerians were in attendance.
Highpoint of the event is the launching of the ABIA STATE ORIENTATION AGENCY (ABSOA).
According to Kazie Uko, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, “This agency serves as a catalyst for driving change in Abia State, departing from old norms and a decayed value system that has hindered progress. Our goal is to bring about disruptive and transformative changes in our dear state.”
“With ABSOA, we envision a vibrant and tech-driven public service, a robust economy, a clean and green environment, strong and functional institutions, an employable youth population and an investor-friendly Abia State.” He said.
