NURTW Lifts Ban on MC Oluomo

The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has revoked the suspension of Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, along with other members.

The recently appointed national president, Tajudeen Agbede, announced the lifting of the suspension during his inaugural address in Abuja.

Former president of the union Tajudeen Baruwa suspended MC Oluomo in March 2022 over alleged insubordination among others. The move forced MC Oluomo and his men to break away from the NURTW. MC Oluomo was later appointed chairman of Lagos parks and garages committee.

In his speech, Agbede said: “Through this, he destroyed the union, especially in the Southwest. So, I, Alhaji Agbede, on behalf of other members of my executives, leaders and members of our union throughout the country, hereby lift the illegal suspension of our esteemed members throughout the country.

“Of particular concern is the suspension of Alhaji Akinsanya, the Lagos State chairman of our union. He was unjustifiably treated by Alhaji Baruwa. It was a pure case of misuse of power. We hereby appeal to Alhaji Akinsanya to come back home. NURTW is one big family and this is where he belongs.”

Agbede said he would ensure all state councils of the union currently under state-owned park and garages committee return to NURTW.

“By the special grace of God, we shall meet Southwest governors for discussion on how to work together. We will cooperate with them in Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Lagos, Ondo and Ekiti states to get our union back on track. It is a new dawn in NURTW,” he added.
