FCT: Wike Talks Tough, Says ‘Buildings Will Go Down’

In his inaugural role as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister, Nyesom Wike took office on Monday, emphasizing his commitment to revitalizing the city’s master plan.

During his first official press conference, Wike announced a significant policy shift: land allottees who have received Certificates of Occupancy but have not initiated development would face land reclamation, making room for those prepared to commence construction.

“If you know you have built where you are not supposed to build, it will go down”, he said.

Wike’s induction marks a pivotal moment in FCT’s development, as he pledges to steer the city’s growth trajectory back in alignment with its original master plan. His decisive stance on inactive land allotments signals a proactive approach toward fostering urban progression and ensuring that the city’s resources are optimized for tangible development.
