Two linesmen were injured yesterday in an English League One match involving Cheltenham and Portsmouth promoting fans to replace them in their duty.
In a frenzy encounter, Daniel Flynn and Mark Derrien were the linesmen, while Ben Toner was the referee, with Stephen Brown as the fourth official.
Towards the end of half time, one of the linesmen, Mark Derrien picked up an injury while making a run down the line, promotions Stephen Brown the fourth official to replace him.
Upon the resumption of second half, Daniel Flynn also got injured!
Referee Ben Toner stopped the match briefly and asked the announcers to call for any fan with linesman experience to assist with the officiating.
A fan volunteer was given the linesman jersey to finish the game. The match ended in a barren draw.
