Nigerian, Cameroonian Forces Block Pro-Biafra Militants From Bombing Vessels

Disaster was narrowly averted on Saturday, 19th August, 2023 when Nigerian and Cameroonian forces staved off attack by suspected members of the militant wing of the Biafra Nation League BNL, IgbereTV has learned.

Reports say the pro-Biafra militants attempted to drop explosives into warships near Ikang Abana in the Bakassi Peninsula but were repelled of by superior firepower.

Sources in the neighbourhood said the Nigerian Navy may be conducting training exercises on the waters involving the testing of some heavy guns.

Other sources stated that Cameroon may have redeployed their forces to beef up security in the Joint border security.

“We know that Cameroon may have also deployed men of the Rapid d’intervention battalion, BIR, in response to the alleged shootout between Biafra separatist militants, the Black Marine, and joint border security forces a few days ago”, the source said.

It was learnt that Cameroonian military officers seemed to have called for more reinforcement of troops in the Isangele and Idabato subdivisions in the Peninsula.

The militant group has been agitating for the sovereign state of Biafra, warning the federal government to release Nnamdi Kanu, and asking Cameroonian authorities to withdraw its men from Bakassi Peninsula.
