Armed men uspected to be pirates have hijacked a passenger boat along the Soku-Abonema waterways in the Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, Igbere TV learnt.
The incident happened on Wednesday evening as the boat was said to be heading for Soku from Abonema when the Pirates struck.
Though the number of passengers aboard the boat could not be immediately ascertained, it was gathered that the miscreants ferried them into the mangrove, drop them alongside the driver and sped off with the boat.
Confirming the incident, the Chairman, of Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, Rivers State chapter, Isreal Pepple, said the frequent attacks along the waterways were worrisome.
