Tragedy struck on Sunday, July 30, 2023, on the Umuahia-Enugu express road, close to Abia tower Umuahia when a bus veered off the road and ran into the bush.
Igbere TV learnt that the bus which was conveying some group of women who were returning from a burial at Ebonyi State, had a tyre burst which made the driver lost control of the bus after climbing the cemented gutter that was channelled to the small water in the bush.
The tragic incident happened around after 12 noon.
An eyewitness said two persons died on the spot (including a pregnant woman), while 8 persons sustained serious injuries.
The inscription on the banner which was hung on the vehicle read; FAVOURED WOMEN OF ONICHA IGBOEZE, ELEME BRANCH.
The victims have been taken to Federal Medical Center (FMC)Umuahia.
