Unity in Adversity, Lessons from Lagos Train, BRT Bus Crash (Photos)

I’ve been silent on the raging tribalism spreading across Lagos State recently because I know that the impact of bad government has no tribe or religion.

Just this morning, Lagos was thrown into mourning – a train had crushed a loaded BRT bus leading to the death of many.

The victims of that fatal accident are not Yorubas or Igbos, Efik or Tiv. No. They are low to average income Nigerians from every tribe. The unfortunate incident didn’t require their state of origin before claiming their lives – No. The accident targetted their economic class – the average Lagos hustler who commutes from home to work daily using unsafe public transportation. This is the shocker – The war is not against people from other tribes, the Nigerian war is against people from the Oppressive Class – stop fighting your kind who speaks a different language or prays in a different shrine.

Everyone is busy sending condolences to the victims without minding what language they speak – suddenly, we have awakened to our Unity in Adversity.

While I mourn with Victims of today’s Rail-Road crash, I want to remind Nigerians that the pain of Lagos is felt by everyone in it and hence its Politics must involve all who lives in it. The impact of bad leadership has no tribe nor religion.

My name is Charles Awuzie and I believe in One United and Safe Nigeria.

Rest in Peace fellow compatriots.
