Abba Aliyu, the governorship candidate of the National Rescue Movement (NRM) in Adamawa state, has died, according to reports.
The party’s national publicity secretary, Abba Aliyu Afuye Olusola, announced the development in a statement on Thursday.
On Wednesday, the NRM candidate was said to have died. “With heavy hearts, the leadership of the National Rescue Movement, particularly that of the Adamawa state chapter, announces the death of Alhaji Aliyu Abba Maina, the party’s governorship candidate in the next month’s general election,” the statement reads.
“Further details and arrangements will be made public following deliberations and meetings with his immediate family and political family.” The news comes just hours after the death of Uche Ikonne, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Abia state.
